Fantasy for Clarinet and Piano

This short piece was written in the summer of 1956 and I have no recollection of a performance then, although it has now been in print for some years. It sets lyrical writing against two dramatic confrontations. At that time I had just begun to show my music to Lennox Berkeley – my lifelong admiration for his work has resulted in two books – and his influence can perhaps be traced here. PD
